Jazmin Sierra - Reflection 2

 Reflection 2

When talking about the “Elections Matter” project, I believe every group did an amazing job at presenting and giving the audience a great demonstration and preview of what they were talking about. I learned a lot of new things about the elections and the different sides and points of view of what was going on. This made me realize how important voting is when you know what is going on and how easily things can change if you don't vote for what or who you think is right. Throughout the course of the project, significant improvements were made in presentation skills. At the beginning, many of us were apprehensive about speaking in front of an audience, often relying on written notes and devices to guide on what we were talking about. However, by the end of the project, the ability to present without relying on written materials and engage directly with the audience was a marked improvement. Although I am partially new to this class, I am so thankful for my group for helping me and catching me up on what was going on. I am also beyond thankful for my Professor Sinkoff, who was of great help, making it possible for me to switch from online to in-person to help with my learning process.

GROUP 1

Group 1 did an amazing job in speaking during their presentation. Their change from this presentation to their last presentation showed how much they have achieved in their public speaking skills. Group 1 was much more comfortable and engaged with the audience, speaking clearly and audibly without relying on their notes as much. Their presentation was on immigration policies it was well written gave a lot of information and even included an interview with one of the presenters mother. This was a great add-on into the presentation as we did get to hear about someone relative’s experience on this topic and how it has affected them today and before in their life it gave us a real world perspective about the topic. Their presentation was very intriguing with how they set it up with all the pictures and details. They include one video about the debate that really had the audience paying attention because it was interesting, funny but informational as well. Although, there was some that were still reading directly off their notes i know its a bit hard to memorize a lot of the information we are just now learning about because its hard for me too but they just need to try to read a little bit memorize some not all but make sure you are looking up. Other than that they did an amazing job their presentation was amazing!

Group 2

As I was a part of Group 2, I believe I could’ve done a better job in presenting. I am still pretty nervous to speak in front of the class, but I believe I did my best and delivered the information on my topic pretty clearly with a good understanding of the history of gender equality. As for the rest of the group, I am so proud of how they presented; they did such a great job in interacting with the audience and keeping everyone engaged. I am truly proud of how we did. Our group spoke on gender equality, and we went more into detail with abortion and women paying wages in comparison to men’s. These topics are very important; although you may think they don't affect you, they may affect your mother, sister, or even daughter one day. This is why it is very important that we do our research on these topics and make sure we vote, so that one day you or any close relative won't have to worry about this. I am extremely proud of Carlos and Joshua, who interacted with the audience, asked them questions, and kept them intrigued. Stating personal opinions is not so great when you are trying to teach or inform others on gender equality. I am beyond proud of how we kept it professional and didn't make it seem to anyone that we were picking sides, but more trying to educate the audience and show the importance of voting for this right. We capitalized on planning ahead of time and were ready to tackle any audience questions, even though none were asked during our class presentation. In conclusion, I rate Group 2 an incredible 10/10 for the fantastic presentation we created and the extreme hard work it took us all to create it, and for the improvement they have made in speaking with an audience.

Group 3 & 4

Group 3 and 4 did an amazing job! Group 4 was the first group to present on this presentation, and they did great and broke the ice for many of us. Group 4 spoke about education policies, and they included both points of view: the liberal side and the conservative side. They kept their opinions to themselves and spoke based on their research and what they learned, based on the side they chose to speak about, and their PowerPoint slide was very informative. It's noticeable that they worked hard in the process of the presentation, and I am beyond proud of them. As well as for Group 3, they spoke about the election process. They informed us on how everything is done and how the process works, as this is very important to know when you are intrigued about who gets elected president, so that you have a bigger viewpoint on how it all works. They did an amazing job in presenting, and with a little bit more practice, their presentation would've been perfect.

Please Vote

Voting is extremely important if any of these topics during every presentation stood out to you. You can be the difference. Your vote does matter and matter. If you are seeing this after election I hope you voted although i'm not telling you who to vote for but your choice and vote does matter and makes a great impact in the elections. Please vote!
