Melanie Rodriguez - Reflection 2

 Welcome back, blog!

Our second presentation was for the “Elections Matter” project. For this project, we each had a topic having to do with the 2024 presidential elections and we each had to do research on our topic/subtopics to create an informative research project to present to our class and for the school. Considering this was our second speech, the expectations were much higher. The performance of each group was heavily improved. Our class and the school was heavily informed on each topic and its importance and impact on the 2024 presidential elections.

Group 1

Group 1 presented last this time, with an eye catching subject on immigration policies. They provided in depth information on each political party and their views on immigration policies. In their project, they included statistics and even one-on-one interviews about the topic. Although their presentation was extremely and factual, the members in group 1 still look down for majority of the speech, making the audience lose interest quicker. However, this doesn’t ruin the whole presentation. Each member of this group presented for around 15+ minutes, which was entirely spent providing detailed information to the audience. Great job Group 1!

Group 2

My groups topic was on Gender Equality in the 2024 elections. We shared the importance of gender equality when it comes to abortion rights, both the pro life and pro choice view, gender equality in sports, and salary differences. We shared the outcomes of each political party and their views on gender equality. I am hopeful that our speech was seen as non biased as possible. The goal was to inform about the topic and it’s importance in the 2024 presidential election, not persuade towards a specific political belief. I believe everyone in my group did amazing, I saw a lot more audience engagement this time in my group, however, I wish some of us could’ve presented for a little longer.

Group 3

The third groups topic was the election process. This topic was very important because it not only went over how to vote, but it also went over what happens after you vote, and how votes are counted. Group 3 did an amazing job presenting their project. Their audience engagement was greatly improved from the last speech they did. They made sure to memorize their part of the speech to ensure they had a very interesting and smooth presentation. I can confidently say that I am extremely proud of their improvement.

 Group 4

Group 4 was the first to present, however, I felt like there wasn’t as much improvement from their first speech. The main thing they improved on was how long they presented for. I felt like their presentation was much longer and definitely got the message across, but they didn’t have much audience engagement. Most of their presentation was from them reading off their notes. It’s okay to have notes to remember key points, but not to read off of the entire presentation. I look forward to seeing them improve in their next presentation. I know they have the potential to do so much better.

Overall, I felt a lot of improvement. I definitely think we could all do better. I look forward to seeing everyone improve as a class in the next project.

‘Til next time!
